The Photography of Skip Dyrda
My photography has followed me through a wide mix of projects: documenting big gatherings, capturing dancers in both studio and performance settings, and creating images for printed pieces like calendars, postcards, and magazines. Each assignment has offered its own rhythm and challenge. This collection shares some of the moments and images that have stayed with me.

Automotive Photography
These photos are my way of celebrating the machines that have always fueled my imagination — a mix of detail, attitude, and the stories I find in metal and motion.
Dance Photography
I started photographing dance when my daughter began taking lessons, and it quickly became a shared passion. As she grew as a dancer, I grew as a photographer
Critters
My world has always balanced between gears and green spaces. I love the precision of machines, but I’m equally drawn to the quiet moments in nature—especially the ones shared with the raccoons, squirrels, frogs, and birds that wander through Arboreal. This gallery is a small celebration of those encounters.
The Land
This collection brings together the places that catch my eye when I’m out exploring—quiet stretches of land, the rhythm of the shoreline, and the architecture that rises out of both. I’ve always been drawn to the natural world, but I’m equally fascinated by the structures we build within it. Here, those two interests meet.
Community Portraits
This gallery gathers a handful of portrait sessions I created for local charitable organizations. These were pro‑bono projects, and without question, the most fulfilling shoots I’ve ever done. Most were made with my portable light studio and finished with some post‑production, but the real magic came from the people themselves and the causes they represented.
