Trompe L'oeil Fireplace Screen

A photo of a fireplace screen I painted that depicts open wood shutters that reveal a window and the forest scene outside.

This custom fireplace screen began as a 36″ × 44″ panel of marine plywood, transformed into a Trompe L’oeil scene of weathered white shutters set into a stone surround. The peeling paint reveals traces of the original blue beneath, and one shutter opens to a window framed by metal security bars, offering a glimpse of a forest path where tiny fairies hover among the flowers. In front of the shutters sit a pair of red high heels and a decorative blue vase, with my signature red string draped over the vase and tied to the bars.

A section of the fireplace screen showing the decorative blue vase with my red string draped over it and then tied to the security bars in the front of the window. You can see that the paint on the old shutters is peeling. Beyond the window you can see the path through the trees and a fairy peeking over one stone step.
